[edit] Information
Walking With Dinosaurs: Series 1 Dazzling computer animation highlights this six-hour "speculative documentary" following the lives of dinosaurs from their beginning to their zenith -- and their eventual decline during the Cretaceous period. The computer-generated imagery and animatronics used in the series show dinosaurs in a way you would expect to see in a feature film.
[edit] New Blood
Set in the mid -Triassic Period, the world is still recovering from a mass extinction that wiped out 95 percent of life. Most of the Earth is made up of vast deserts but near the poles the weather is monsoonal. The diversity that once existed millions of years before is beginning to return.
[edit] A Time of Titans
By the late Jurassic, dinosaurs dominated the globe. The most widespread group were the sauropods. These herbivores were giants even among dinosaurs, weighing between 20 and 70 tons. We follow the hatching of a tiny Diplodocus through her struggle for survival until she reaches maturity and mates.
[edit] Cruel Sea
For all the successes of dinosaurs on land, they never made it into the sea – that is the realm of an entirely different group of reptiles. The largest carnivore on the planet, Liopleurodon, and Ophthalmosaurus, the fastest animal in the sea, swam in the Jurassic oceans.
[edit] Giant of the Skies
An Ornithocheirus, one of the largest flying creatures ever, undertakes an epic flight to find a mate. During his journey, the incredible diversity of life in the Early Cretaceous Period is revealed.
[edit] Spirits of the Ice Forest
Throughout the entire time of the dinosaurs there were no ice caps on the poles. In the mid Cretaceous thick forests covered Antarctica. During the winter the sun would set completely for two months! Animals that lived there coped with, by dinosaur standards, the most extreme of environments.
[edit] Death of a Dynasty
After 160 million years of dominating life on Earth the dinosaurs appear as vigorous as ever. Tyrannosaurus rules over plains full of herds of other dinosaurs. But there are hidden stresses and the rich ecosystem hides problems. Volcanic activity is high and disease and sterile eggs common.
